ELLIS BOYD, brazilian jiu jitsu + fitness coach
Coach Ellis joined BVMMA in the Fall of 2008 and began training with the competition team shortly afterwards. He has competed in Jiujitsu tournaments all over the state and won his amateur MMA debut in September of 2010. (1-0 record). He also won his Professional MMA debut in May of 2016 (1-0 record).
As it was never his intention to fight regularly, he put the gloves away for a while and focused on developing as an athlete/coach. He is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and holds several certifications as a Police Defensive Tactics Instructor. Professor Bush awarded Ellis with the rank of Jiujitsu Brown Belt in February of 2019.
As a Marine Veteran and Active Law Enforcement Officer, Ellis knows the importance of staying sharp and fit for duty. With over a decade working the streets on patrol, he has utilized jiujitsu, wrestling, and kickboxing skills to minimize injury to hisself and criminal suspects taken into custody. It is Ellis' goal as a coach to utilize his life/training experience to prepare those around him for real life situations.
Ellis grew up nearby in Caldwell, TX. Robin, his high school sweetheart, is now his wife of over fifteen years. They have three wonderful children and enjoy camping and the outdoors.
